Scale... in order to understand the scale of these hand broken tiles, here is a picture.
Basically, 4 tiles fit in roughly the space as a quarter.

After the wall was primed with the Tree of Life design we chose,
I began to lay in the tile - June 2003.

The glass is broken manually into smaller tiles of random shapes.
I have used 3 colors of tile for the tree: Mahogany, Hot Molten and Cinnabar.

Next session's progress (July).

July also... making progress... tedious work but well worth the effort!

Mosaic (September 8th) the tree is almost done and will be grouted this weekend.

Well... it's been eight months and the mosaic mural is now gaining momentum.
See below... pics on the left are without flash, on right you can see how some
of the tiles illuminate are they are clear/metallic glass vs. opaque.

Another installment... been motoring on the mosaic this week.

This gives a good perspective of how much work there still is to
complete the project. This entire wall will be mosaic except the door and window.

Some close-ups...

These pitcures (the four above) were taken on May 24, 2004.

These pitcures (one above, one below) were taken on July 26, 2004.

January, 2005. Once the rain stops I can begin working again...
